weee full-service reforests in the German Südharz-Hayn
Germany’s largest guarantee system for manufacturers of electronic devices turns 15 years
The Bitkom Service business unit weee full-service celebrates its 15th anniversary this month. The provider of europewide compliance solutions for electronic equipment has supported a company forest with 1,000 tree seedlings in Südharz-Hayn (Saxony-Anhalt) to mark its jubilee.
The CEO Anja Olsok, which developed the weee full-service from the very beginning, emphasizes „Climate protection concerns us all and is increasingly becoming the responsibility of private industry. With the tree planting campaign we not only want to make a contribution to CO2 compensation, but also thank our customers for their loyalty and trust.“
With the ElektroG coming into force in Germany in 2005, the so-called "Garantiesystem Altgeräte" was founded, from which the „weee full-service“ emerged in 2010. The insolvency-proof guarantee for manufacturers of electrical appliances ensures that their old appliances are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner even if they leave the market.
"We have grown quite a lot with our guarantee system for old equipment, so that at times we covered a guarantee sum of over 0.5 billion euros. Insuring such a volume, the reinsurer has to face major challenges when it comes to legal adjustments. We even had to coordinate the adjustments with the financial market in London. In the meantime, we have been able to expand our business to include services for electrical appliances, batteries, packaging and CE marking. I am particularly proud of the 3,500 clients we serve today.“, states Anja Olsok.
