New safety standard EN 62368-1 for audio/video, information and communication technology
On 20 December 2020 the two safety standards EN 60950-1 (Information technology equipment - Safety - Part 1: General requirements) and EN 60065 (Audio, video and similar electronic equipment - Safety requirements) will be replaced.
New: EN 62368-1 (Equipment for audio/video, information and communication technology - Part 1: Safety requirements) now applies to products with these standards.
This changes with EN 62368-1
Manufacturers of products with a declaration of conformity (EU DoC) that refers to EN 60950-1 or EN 60065 must revise it. It is not enough to simply change the name of the safety standard, the products must actually be subjected to new testing procedures. New are the classification of energy sources (chemical, electrical, kinetic or thermal or radiant energy), as well as the requirements for its respective protective device. The requirements for the safety devices are directed at the respective user groups. Thus the new standard distinguishes between laypersons, instructed persons and specialists.
