The french senate has suggested to postpone the ban on packaging made entirely or partially of styrene polymers or copolymers that are not recyclable from 2025 to 2030. This decision would give the industry more time to develop and implement sustainable alternatives.
The responsible minister emphasised the need for this extension to avoid over-implementation and to support the success of projects related to plastic resins. This postponement aligns with the upcoming EU regulation on packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) and French law, both of which are not yet fully enacted.
