WEEE registration for Amazon retailers until June 5, 2023
Amazon has announced that they will no longer allow any sales activities from retailers that do not have a valid WEEE registration for the corresponding products by the deadline of June 5, 2023.
Specifically, this means that ASINs (Amazon internal product identification numbers) that cannot be assigned a WEEE number will be deactivated , as otherwise the legal EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) requirement for these products will not be met.
In the electrical equipment sector, the EPR requirement is implemented as part of the WEEE registration process. Manufacturers, distributors and importers of electrical equipment must be registered with the relevant authorities and pay a fee to ensure the cost of collection and disposal of their products.
Amazon is also registered as a producer of electrical and electronic equipment and pays the corresponding fees for its own products itself. However, this registration does not include products for which Amazon merely acts as a Marketplace or Fullfilment Center.
Dealers operating on Amazon are therefore required to provide proof of registration as soon as possible.
We will gladly accompany you in the process to a legally compliant and quick registration of your electrical appliances.
