Ensure compliance for 2025 – Complete outstanding registrations this year
With regard to the fourth quarter, it is important to note a regulatory detail: in some EU Member States, it is not possible to submit retrospective quantity reports for batteries, packaging and electrical equipment (WEEE).
Specifically, this means that companies that have placed batteries, packaging and/or WEEE on the market in these markets in 2025 must register with the competent authorities this year. Failure to register by the stated deadline will result in the inability to submit quantity reports for 2025, which may incur substantial fines or even a sales ban.
The following Member States have particularly strict requirements:
-
Spain: Retroactive reporting is not possible for WEEE, batteries and packaging.
-
Italy: Retroactive reporting is not possible for WEEE and batteries.
-
Austria: Retroactive reporting is not possible for packaging.
-
France: Retroactive reporting is not possible for packaging.
-
UK: To continue services into the next year, a contract extension must be signed. Customers active in the UK will be reminded in due time.
Our recommendation: Address any gaps now and complete outstanding registrations
Please clarify for all current distribution channels and sales markets where registrations and notifications for WEEE, batteries and packaging are required and take the necessary steps in a timely manner. This will ensure that you fulfil your legal obligations and secure your market presence in the coming year.
