The Act on the Adaptation of Battery Law to Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 was published in the official gazette on 6 October 2025. The so-called Battery Law EU Adaptation Act (Batt-EU-AnpG) will already enter into force on 7 October 2025.
With the new law, German battery legislation is being aligned with the EU Battery Regulation, which comprehensively governs the entire life cycle of batteries - from manufacture and distribution to disposal.
The Bundestag passed the BattDG on 11 September 2025; the Bundesrat adopted it on 26 September 2025.
