As a result of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the EU Customs Union, the common internal market and the free movement of persons, goods and services with the EU, new rules will apply to companies doing business with the United Kingdom from 1 January 2021.
The European Commission's checklist is designed to give EU companies operating in the UK and/or UK companies operating in the EU an overview of the main areas where changes are likely to occur.
The changes are independent of any agreement on a future economic and security partnership between the EU and the UK.
All affected companies must prepare for these extensive and far-reaching changes, make decisions and complete all necessary administrative measures before 31 December 2020.
