Circular economy for textiles: Italian government plans ground-breaking EPR ministerial decree
Italy plans ministerial decree on Environmentally Responsible Production (EPR) in the textile industry
The Italian Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability has announced that after the summer it will publish a significant ministerial decree on the introduction of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the textile industry. This measure aims to reduce the environmental impact of textile production and promote a circular economy in the country.
This is to ensure that companies take responsibility for the environmental impact of their products and take measures to reduce waste, promote recycling and use more sustainable materials.
This initiative follows an international trend where more and more countries are introducing EPR laws in various industries to minimise their environmental impact. Countries such as Germany, France, Sweden and the Netherlands have already successfully established similar legislative changes.
