Attention: Only one month left until the first requirements of the Battery Regulation become effective
From August 18, 2024, numerous new requirements of the Battery Regulation will apply for the first time. It is essential to gather all relevant information and get prepared!
The new requirements include, among others:
Information on performance and durability: Extended documentation obligations apply to electric vehicle batteries, rechargeable industrial batteries, and LMT batteries.
Information on the state of health and expected lifetime of batteries: For electric vehicle batteries, LMT batteries, and stationary battery energy storage systems, current data on the parameters to determine the aging status and expected lifespan must be recorded in the battery management system and regularly updated.
Conformity assessment, declaration of conformity, and CE marking: All batteries must undergo a conformity assessment procedure and receive a declaration of conformity. Additionally, CE marking is mandatory.
Producer and importer labeling: The producer and importer labeling must generally be present on each battery.
Inspection obligations for importers and distributors: Importers and distributors are obliged to ensure that the batteries comply with the applicable requirements.
